Creekside’s Reserve wines represent our best from the vintage as chosen through extensive barrel selection process. Fruit for our 2002 Reserve Merlot was sourced from two vineyards near Lake Ontario, harvested mid-October at average 21.9 Brix. Small batch ferment with punchdown of the cap by hand was followed by 23 months ageing in 50% French / 50% American oak barriques. At best from 2006-2011.

    4.0 Stars — 2002 Reserve Merlot

Christopher Waters, VINES Magazine, Fall 2006

This fine Merlot is a bit of a sleeper – it’s still restrained on the nose and tight on the palate.  That said, it clearly has the stuffing to merit purchasing now for future pleasure.  The flavour suggests a savoury mix of raspberry, mint and cocoa, with a firm, gripping style and firm, focused structure.
