2006 marks the return of Creekside’s celebrated Sauvignon Blanc Reserve. Cool weather in summer 2006 allowed Sauvignon blanc to retain good intense aromatics while ripening, and pushed harvest to the end of September (about a week later than normal). Fruit was sourced from four Niagara vineyards (nearly two-thirds from our own estate block). After gentle press, all wines were inoculated and transferred at different stages of fermentation from stainless steel to French oak barriques (50% new oak).Wines chosen for the final cuvee range from 100% barrel fermentation to 100% stainless steel fermentation, and average nine months in oak. Best 2008-2011.

“Hearty Fall Soup To Fill the Belly and Warm The Toes”

Quick, rich, and delish, these little crisps will give the impression of extreme effort, despite taking less time to prepare then it takes to chill the accompanying wine.
We had a lot of compliments on last month’s recipe, so we thought we should dig up another comfort food classic, this one comes from a member of the Creekside crew who says it’s his favourite version of the Cajun Classic.

“Stylish” — 2006 Reserve Sauvignon Blanc
Billy Munnelly, Weekly Wine Picks, Dec. 15th 2008
Creekside has…produced an excellent, understated, stylish, slightly rich Reserve Sauvignon that would be a dandy dinner companion with a chicken or pork dish.
“[an] exotic and electric model” — 2006 Reserve Sauvignon Blanc
Christopher Waters, Vines Magazine, 2008
Niagara Sauvignon Blanc is the new rock and roll. That certainly the sense you get from this exotic and electric model of Sauvignon Blanc from Creekside. There’s a yin-yang effect to this engaging wine: bright, lively acidity contrasted by creamy, smoky pineapple notes and a nice spicy finish. Judicious use of oak imparts a real richness to this stunning reserve white. Well-done.

90 Pts. — 2006 Reserve Sauvignon Blanc
David Lawrason, Lawrason On Wine, Nov. 20th 2007
This is a dynamic example. Very generous, spicy, smoky nose with lavender, nutmeg, pineapple and lime nuances. Medium-full bodied, creamy and exotic, with great acidity drying nicely on the finish with some green tea, wood tannin, sap and loads of spice. Excellent length.
