The 2007 Reserve is a limited bottling crafted from an experimental planting of Riesling dating back to the early 80’s. Keeping with “old world” practices, vines in the NW corner of the Butler’s Grant vineyard are tightly spaced at 3’ x 5.5’ (vs. more common 4’ x 9’). Intrigued, this fruit was harvested separately to explore the potential of these “close-planted” vines.
Hand-picked and whole-bunch pressed, great care was taken to preserve fruit integrity while retaining purity of aroma and flavour. Following fermentation in both an old French oak cask with natural ‘wild’ yeast, as well as stainless steel, the components were reunited in a blend that realizes the full potential of this hidden gem, displaying intensity, focus, and unique vineyard character.

…a fragrant, forward and fuller bodied Riesling than usual, with interesting apricot, honey and spice notes. The earthy finish has a ginger ale note that is common to this vineyard.

[L]ight straw; still tight but its aromas showing through – peach and apricot with a honyed note; light spritz, fleshy on the palate that thins out on an acidic spine to fresh off-dryness.
