Apr 27th, 2010 | By admin | Category: Reserve Whites, Reviews

David Lawrason, Winery to Home, April 2010 This powerhouse, barrel aged white took a gold medal at the Ontario Wine Awards. It shows an intense, very complex nose of wood smoke, green cedar forest, juniper, guava, grapefruit. Very impressive. It’s medium-full bodied, fleshy and rich on the palate. Excellent length and focus. Best now to [...]

Rick Van Sickle, St. Catharines Standard, Feb. 28th, 2010 Intense tropical fruit, sweet peach compote, apricot and floral notes on the nose. It’s rich on the palate but has excellent vibrancy and length. Very fine white from the Queenston Road Vineyard. This won at Cuvee last weekend for best Viognier and best limited edition white.

4.5 Stars — 2007 Broken Press Shiraz

Mar 27th, 2010 | By admin | Category: Reserve Reds, Reviews

Rick Van Sickle, St. Catharines Standard, February 28th 2010 …this iconic and much awarded Shiraz is perhaps the one wine that defines Creekside. The 2007 is a sensational wine with lifted aromatics that are helped along with a shot of Viognier added to the Shiraz.  Viognier brings a floral element to the rich red berries [...]

4.5 Stars — 2007 Reserve Sauvignon Blanc

Mar 1st, 2010 | By admin | Category: Reserve Whites, Reviews

Rick VanSickle, St. Catharines Standard, February 28, 2010 Creekside really sets the bar for serious Sauvignon Blanc in Niagara. This big ’07 reserve shows intense tropical/grapefruit/ gooseberry notes on the nose with a sprinkling of vanilla and oak. Not your typical and grassy Sauvignon Blanc, it is full bodied and vibrant with added oak-kissed spice. [...]

Gord Stimmell, Toronto Star, Dec. 3rd, 2009 This wild yeast-fermented and judiciously-oaked chardonnay shows opulent butter, spicy oak and baked apple elegance, with intriguing subtle undertones of marshmallow and floral musk. It also shows a brightly crisp lemony length.  Food suggestion: Wild rice stuffed cornish game hens.

4 Stars — 2002 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Nov 22nd, 2009 | By admin | Category: Reserve Reds, Reviews

Christopher Waters, VINES Magazine, Sept/Oct 2006 Fruit from three Niagara on the Lake vineyards was combined to create this tempting Cabernet Sauvignon. This provocative red is made in a flashy, attention getting style that possesses everything you could want from a Cabernet: dark, macerated fruit, mocha-tinged oak spice and a long, lingering finish.

“A unique expression” — 2007 Butler’s Grant Riesling

Nov 22nd, 2009 | By admin | Category: Estate Whites, Reviews

Rick Van Sickle, St. Catharines Standard, November 2009 From a nice little vineyard on the Twenty Mile Bench, this is a unique expression of Riesling. The aromas range from grapefruit, honey and subtle petrol notes to ginger and peach. It reveals more citrus acidity than other ’07s, with gushing grapefruit and peach flavours and a [...]

Christopher Waters, Vines Magazine, September/October 2006 One of the top-rated wines in this issue, Creekside’s top-of-the-line Bordeaux blend is assembled from a focused selection of barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. This stunning wine is best enjoyed leisurely, decanted, served in large bowl glasses, with time to monitor how the wine changes over [...]

89 Pts. — 2006 Reserve Shiraz

Aug 29th, 2009 | By admin | Category: Reserve Reds, Reviews

Matthew Sullivan, Wine Tidings, April 2009. This is another excellent wine…Creekside gets such great results from its premium Syrah partly because the vines grow on St. David’s Bench, which is perhaps the best heated of Niagara’s sub-appellations.  Twiggy, chocolatey and tannic, this Syrah is marked out by its superior texture.  Needs some age.
