Stellar Showing for Creekside at the OWAs

During a delicious lunch at the Pantages Suites in Toronto, the winners of the 2010 Ontario Wine Awards were announced to a packed room of media and industry aficionados, and shared with an excited and eager crowd of consumers in the evening at the annual Sip & Savour Ontario event.

Creekside was thrilled to receive a total of three medals – a gold and two silvers – for their efforts.  Taking top honours in the Shiraz/Syrah category was our 2007 Broken Press Shiraz, a blockbuster wine and one of the iconic cornerstones of Creekside’s innovate portfolio.  This rich, elegant co-fermented shiraz/viognier wowed the judges and general public alike.  A single-vineyard Queenston Road Vineyard wine, we’re very excited to see where this youngster will go over the next few years.

Winning silvers were our recently released duo of 2006 vintage Reserve Reds: the 2006 Reserve Merlot and the 2006 Queenston Road Vineyard Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon.  Up against some very stiff competition, these wines showed impeccable balance and seamless structure.

The winemaking team also picked up Gold Medals for their efforts at our sister winery: Wayne Gretzky Estates, winning in the Red Assemblage category for the 2007 Estate Series Shiraz/Cabernet and the Meritage/Cabernet Merlot category for the 2007 Estate Series Cabernet/Merlot.

Congratulations to all of the participants and award winners for a great showing.
