The winemaking team got a wee bit excited to have a big beefy batch of Malbec to experiment with and so, inspired by some of the blends coming out of other new world regions, borrowed some of the 2007 QRV Reserve Shiraz blend to create a 60%/40% Shiraz/Malbec that offers the best of both worlds. Both batches were fermented in one ton bins with manual punchdowns and nearly two years of barrel aging in a mixture of French and American oak. Surprisingly approachable in its relative youth, the Malbec gets an added boost from the juicy red fruit and typical peppery characteristics of Shiraz. 35 cases produced.
