2017 Iconoclast Syrah
The 2017 vintage was a tale of two seasons. A wet, cool summer had us worried, but a warm, sunny fall turned everything around—slow, steady ripening delivered fruit with elegance, balance, and surprising depth. Each Syrah block at Queenston Road Vineyard was vinified separately, then rigorously tasted and sorted. The very best lots became Broken and Unbroken Press, while this Iconoclast Syrah is crafted from the “rest”—though one sip will prove there’s nothing second-tier about it.
Delicate yet complex, this Syrah balances juicy red fruit with subtle spice, floral lift, and a savoury, meaty edge. Smooth and elegant on the palate, it’s approachable and ready to enjoy upon release, but it has the structure to develop beautifully with time in the cellar.

Iconoclast Syrah represents some of our best Syrah, just a step below our Reserve level wines. It’s delicate and smooth with great red fruit, spice, florality and a meaty, savoury complexity. Made to drink when released but will certainly age well in the cellar
2017 vintage started out as a difficult year. It was a summer of lots of rain and less than ideal weather, but by the fall, everything turned around and the sun came out and saved the harvest. Managing crop levels was important but that slow and steady ripening and a gorgeous fall lead to a red wine with elegance and great ageing potential. We vinified each block separately and underwent our regular rigorous selection process of parceling out Broken and UNBroken Press wines. Our 2017 iteration of Iconoclast Syrah is a single- vineyard selected blend of wines from the east, centre and west Syrah blocks at QRV. Yeah! It’s technically the “leftovers”, but don’t feel slighted. When you taste this beauty we think you’ll agree that it’s delish.
A versatile food wine, this Syrah is a natural with roast chicken, charcuterie, grilled vegetables, or slow-cooked lamb.
